Diabetyk24 | Branding & illustration set

Problem

The main brand, Diabetyk24, had two sister brands: Chlonne24 and Stomia24. All three companies are in the medical sector and support people with diabetes, urinary incontinence and ostomy. My job was to create brand guidelines that were similar to one another yet distinctive, to ensure a consistent presence both online and offline for all of them.

My role

I was both the designer and the illustrator. Having worked with the company as a freelance designer for over eight years, I knew all the ins and outs, and could propose the best solutions to the marketing team's real pain points. This project summarised all that work – I compiled the most important projects we had created and prepared a comprehensive Brandbook to help companies grow.

The Story

The first Diabetyk24 logo was a redesign. I wanted to retain the essence of the original logo, which made it unique, and incorporate a symbol representing diabetes. Over the years, as new companies appeared, I created two new logos. The final step was to refine and simplify the first logo slightly so that they all had the same thickness and size of typography.

The story

The first illustrations were drawn by hand. You can find the original sketches below, along with examples of how they ended up functioning as key elements of the visual language and even wallpapers! My main idea was to bring an element of lightness and joy to the subject of diabetes. Diabetes is a chronic disease that many people will have to live with, but modern technology makes life easier. There’s no need for extra seriousness; on the contrary, I wanted to make it feel more manageable and light.

Growth of the collection

The collection of illustrations has grown significantly over the years. I added more characters, as well as new additions for the other two brands. The client has a full library of characters ready to use for various purposes.

From 1 to 25+

During the years we worked together, the company grew from a single shop to a chain of over 25 stores in all the major cities in Poland. Good branding definitely played a big role with this growth! During the rebrand I designed a special version of the logo for use on storefronts to make the best use of the available space and make designing new shops easier.

Guidelines

The marketing team creates most of the day-to-day graphics for social media. My job was to support them in this, providing them with straightforward yet effective solutions, graphics and templates for their work. The detailed guidelines ensure consistency and high-quality final designs.
